Psychic or Psychotic? Book Signing May 31

to Benefit Seattle Humane Society;

Workshop June 2 Puts Students in Touch

with Natural Intuitive Ability

Nationally respected psychic medium Jonna Rae Bartges will visit Seattle to do a book signing, readings and lead a one-day workshop that’s connected thousands of students to their inner intuitive.

ASHEVILLE, NC (May 9, 2012) -- Emmy-winning producer and author Jonna Rae Bartges brings her unique, fresh and upbeat flavor of psychic mediumship to Seattle’s East West Bookshop May 31 through June 2.

“I see dead people so you don’t have to” is ‘Happy Medium’ Jonna Rae’s slogan. Thursday May 31 at 7 p.m., she’ll give a brief presentation and sign copies of her autobiography, Psychic or Psychotic? Memoirs of a Happy Medium.  In her book, she shares how growing up psychic let her navigate a near-death experience, win EMMY® Awards, comfort grieving families and talk to Walt Disney and whales while doing PR for Disneyland and Sea World San Diego. Her sometimes humorous, always real life journey helps you understand and cultivate your own psychic potential.

Because so many of the stories in Jonna Rae’s book deal with animal communication, she’s donating 20% of her proceeds that evening to the Seattle Humane Society.

From noon thru 6 p.m. Friday, June 1 at East West as a guest consultant, Jonna Rae will use her gentle humor, authenticity and compassion to connect clients not only with loved ones in spirit, but with very specific and accurate information about their past, present and future. She works closely with psychologists, psychiatrists and medical professionals to help bring together science and spirituality in a practical, positive and effective way.

In addition to her private consulting business, during her 35 years as a professional psychic she has read for the International Coptic Conference, Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E., Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship, The Learning Light Foundation in Anaheim, CA and United Research Light Center and Crystal Visions in the Asheville NC area.  After Jonna Rae did a reading for Peter Caddy and his infant son in 1984, Caddy invited her to come be the resident psychic at his then-new Mt. Shasta community. Feeling the timing wasn’t right, she respectfully declined.

Through skype, phone, or in person at her two Asheville, NC area offices, Jonna Rae serves an international roster of clients.

Friday, June 2, from 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., Jonna Rae will guide students to access their natural intuition in her popular Practical Spirituality 101 workshop. Since she was shown how to open people up to their own psychic ability in a meditation in 1979, she has guided thousands of students to accurately see and respectfully communicate intuitive information.

In this streamlined version of her class developed specifically for East West Bookshop, Jonna Rae will use music, guided meditation, gemstones and humor to put students in touch with their inner psychic.  Participants will learn how to accurately connect with:

1. God, or their Higher Self

2. Their own body, to really hear what it’s trying to tell them

3. Other’s minds

4. Animals

5. People in the spirit world

Participants in this high-energy, interactive class will receive worksheets, a pendulum and chakra disks. Tuition is $65 thru June 1; $75 the day of workshop. Space is limited to insure personal instruction.

To schedule a private psychic consultation or reserve a space for the workshop, contact East West Bookshop of Seattle at 206-523-3726 or 800-587-6002, or visit their website at www.eastwestbookshop.com

Local Author’s Book Signing at Malaprops October 31 to Benefit

Asheville Humane Society’s New Shelter & Adoption Center

Sales of Psychic or Psychotic? Memoirs of a Happy Medium Will Help Pet Project

ASHEVILLE, NC (September 1, 2010) -- When Weaverville resident and author Jonna Rae Bartges was a news producer at WLOS-TV in Asheville back in the early 80s, she and a reporter from the station rented a little house together.  At Christmas, her friend returned from spending the holiday with her parents.

“You’ll never guess what mom and dad got me!” the woman said.

Jonna Rae looked at her friend for a second then answered, “An electric fondue pot!”

The friend stopped in her tracks.

“Yellow!” Jonna Rae added, and the friend screamed and ran out of the room.

This true story, along with dozens like it, are woven together in Jonna Rae’s autobiography, Psychic or Psychotic? Memoirs of a Happy Medium. Malaprops is hosting a reading and signing at 3 p.m. Halloween Day, October 31, at the Haywood Street bookstore in Asheville.  Because so many of the vignettes in the book deal with animal communication, Jonna Rae will donate a portion of the proceeds from book sales to Asheville’s new Humane Society Shelter & Adoption Center.

“A recent Time magazine cover story revealed scientists are starting to confirm what sensitive people have always known,” Jonna Rae said.  “Animals have consciousness and emotions. Teaching people to tune into animals, even insects, has always been a ‘pet project’ of mine, and I’m thrilled to support Asheville’s new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to compassionate, expert animal care.”

Besides discussing animal communication, Psychic or Psychotic? Memoirs of a Happy Medium shares Jonna Rae’s frequently funny, sometimes heartbreaking experience of living life intuitively wide open since she was a toddler.

“Everyone is born psychic,” Jonna Rae said.  “How many times have you had a ‘hunch’ about something or someone, and it’s come true?  Whether you call it ‘mother’s intuition,’ a gut feeling, an instinct or a vibe, this natural ability to connect with everyone, and everything, isn’t some weird fringe thing.  It’s ‘entanglements in the Universal Field’ according to quantum physicists, or ‘Christ’ or ‘God Consciousness’ if you’re coming from a religious perspective.

“It could even be labeled ‘common sense’ because it’s such a natural extension of our conscious thought process,” Jonna Rae said.  “For instance, a teacher just ‘has a feeling’ which kids are going to be challenging, or a doctor just ‘knows’ the root cause of a patient’s health issue.  The more you use and trust this sixth sense which is part of the human experience, the stronger it becomes.”

The title of the book comes from a pivotal time in Jonna Rae’s life.  It was the late 70s, and she was the first woman and youngest person ever to be a national editor at The Morning Call newspaper in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

“Part of the reason I moved up the ranks at the paper so quickly is because I was using my intuitive ability as a reporter,” she said.  “I could tell when people were lying, or when there were fascinating aspects of their story they hadn’t reveled yet in an interview

“When I turned 24, I realized if I was ever going to figure out if I was ‘psychic or psychotic,’ this would be the time in my life to do it. I resigned my hot-shot journalist position to go on what would turn out to be a two-year spiritual quest.”

Jonna Rae studied and taught at churches and metaphysical centers up and down the east coast before she met Asheville-area resident and retired Navy atomic physicist Jim Goure at a national spiritual conference.  He was so impressed with her intuitive skills he invited her to be the resident psychic at the United Research Light Center he was building in Black Mountain.

“That’s how I first came to North Carolina,” Jonna Rae said.  “I lived at the Light Center for not quite a year when I got the message in meditation to get back into the ‘real world,’ and teach my truths by living them.  That’s when I ended up at WLOS.”

From Asheville she moved to Miami, then to Wichita, Kansas, and finally, Disneyland took her to Southern California, where she ran Broadcast Publicity at the Anaheim Park.  Her book chronicles how paying attention to her psychic impressions – or ignoring them – resulted in adventures that literally spanned the globe.

After 22 years away from the Smoky Mountains, Jonna Rae was told in meditation to move back here and write her book.

“Writing the story of my life was just terrifying,” Jonna Rae said.  “I knew, though, that I had to step out of the spiritual closet and honestly talk about this natural ability everyone has to help make it more mainstream.

“I’m starting to hear from all types of people, ranging from a 14-year-old girl to people in their 80s, who are telling me the book is helping them start to connect the dots and embrace the intuitive insight they’ve always had, but ignored. That was definitely my intent.”

Psychic or Psychotic? Memoirs of a Happy Medium is available locally through Malaprops Bookstore & Café in Asheville, Crystal Visions in Naples and Ms. Divine in Black Mountain.  It is also available in soft cover and Kindle versions on amazon.com.  For more information, visit Jonna Rae’s website at www.HappyMediumBook.com, or contact her at (828) 337-4017.
